Brent Hoff, Malcolm Pullinger win Film Independent grant
Film Independent has introduced the 2010 Sloan Producers Grant recipient and selected nine projects because of its eleventh annual Producers Lab, backed through the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The 5th annual Sloan grant of $25,000 was awared to Brent Hoff and Malcolm Pullinger for his or her film "El Diablo Rojo." Grant is devoted to developing films about science from commerical production to global distribution. In "El Diablo Rojo," a marine biologist and the team uncover an excellent swarm of El Diablo Rojo squid and risk their lives in order to save it from environmental disaster. The filmmakers connected to the nine projects, including "El Diablo Rojo," will attend the free seven-week L.A.-based producers lab, which aims to assist filmmakers increase their craft and move current projects into production. Another selected projects are Megha Kadakia's "Each Day With Dandekar," Anil Baral's "Ethel," Angela C. Lee's "Lee," Shrihari Sathe's "Guy With Van," Rikki Jarrett's "Pit," Gil Kofman and Stacy Raskin's "Raw," Jonathan Sheldon's "Televisionaries" and Anna Kerrigan's "Three."
